Closet chic lands in Edmond boutique

EDMOND — Imagine being able to buy trendy clothing and name brand items such as Louis Vuitton, Brighton, Coach and Fossil at tremendously lower prices than retail.

That’s the vision Andee Brenner, owner of the chicXchange, has for her women’s’ clothing consignment boutique in downtown Edmond.

The chicXchange opened three weeks ago at 101 E Hurd, between Boulevard and Littler.

“I came up with what I thought were some great names,” Brenner said.

“But I did a little research and found they were all taken. So I’m thinking chic and exchange, girls exchanging and chicXchange came out as the name.”

The shop carries all sizes of women’s clothing.

“Trendy things that are in great shape,” Brenner said. “Plus jewelry, clothes, purses, shoes anything that’s girly.”

Brenner began the business by first going through her closet. She then emailed her friends, and soon the store was fully stocked.

The shop offers a 50-50 consignment agreement on a 60-day consignment contract.

“As your items sell, you get 50 percent of the sales price,” Brenner said. Consignment items are seen by appointment only. Brenner said there is a lot of competition in the local consignment business. “My goal is to be reasonable on the prices,” she said.

For Consignors - Sell Your Clothing

How to Consign

Take a look through the list to find some helpful information about us and what we do. If you don’t find the answer to your question here, just send us an e-mail or give us a call, we’re always happy to help!

At chicXchange, we have a 60 day consignment contract. As your items sell, you get 50% of the selling price. You can use this balance for store credit anytime after you sell something, or receive a check at the end of your consignment period.

You do not need an appointment to consign.

Instead of making appts for consignors, we do a "quick drop". This consists of not making an appt but bringing stuff by… we get them into the system, (takes about 2 minutes) then do a "count" of items.. then I print them off a "quick drop" contract, listing the number of items. later on after I have had a chance to process the items into the computer, I will print off an itemized list of their stuff and send it to them.

Also, around the middle of the month, I will process all the accounts and if there is a credit, I will write the consignor check and mail it.

What items are the best sellers?

While each season brings its own favorites, there are certain consistencies. Current brands and styles of jeans and casual tops are always popular. Items no older than two years old, with the exception of vintage. The key to an item’s popularity can vary, but the most current items from the trendier brands tend to dominate. Garment presentation is critical and all items sell best when clean and well cared for in excellent condition.

My clothing is clean – I took it out of my closet – isn’t that good enough?

NO - Most of us think that we only hang clean, freshly laundered clothing in our closets…but the reality is there is usually something in there that is not clean! PLEASE LAUNDER ALL ITEMS the week that you bring them in…even if they were washed since you last wore them. This will eliminate household odors – present in everyone’s closets – freshen things up and result in probable acceptance and a quick sale. Also, please make sure items are free of all pet hair, rips, tears and make sure all buttons/enclosures are in place.
